GROWING THE GAME IN SALFORD

COMMUNITY

Free rugby league sessions. Lasting links between schools and their local community clubs.

THE COMMUNITY PROGRAMME

BEYOND MATCH DAY

Each of the four Valentine Cup community clubs has nominated two local schools to take part in free rugby league sessions. The clubs chose their school partners to build lasting links between children, schools and their local rugby league club.

Supported by Salford City Council’s Centenary Fund, the programme brings together four clubs and eight schools. Free coaching sessions will begin in January 2027, delivered by EdStart in partnership with the participating community clubs.

This is about more than a few coaching sessions or one day of matches. The aim is to give children the chance to discover rugby league and build a sustainable connection with their local club, helping grow the next generation of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters.

4 CLUBS

Two local schools nominated by each club.
